How to Get In

Exclusive guidelines often have to be met to meet requirements for admission. Some settings require physician orders for admission while others require certain levels of independence. Level of care is most likely the biggest determinate of care setting stipulations.
The different providers of care are only allowed to care for people with specific levels of independence. A classic example of this is the assisted living facility that is required by law to only admit people who can walk unassisted. And, yes, this is a good requirement because of the need in the event of a fire that people would be able to get to an exit safely. To drive the point home consider the fact that Assisted Living Facilities don’t have the amount of staff that other settings do.
