All settings of eldercare are not equal in that they cater to different types of clients. That being said, you should know the types of clients that best fits into each eldercare setting. This aspect alone can help guarantee a smooth care experience.

Different settings appeal to different types of elders because of the services they provide, the amount of care they can manage, and also because some have different ways of paying.

Nursing homes differ quite a bit from other settings in that generally they can care for more complex patiemts. All settings are only allowed to care for certain levels of acuity. Nursing homes primarily take more complex while assisted living provide less care and have fewer staff.

With fewer staff or more staff the amount of care that can be provided is dictated.
