Develop a schedule initially to make yourself available to your parent thus helping them ease into a new setting. Transitioning lifestyles is not an easy task and especially so for someone whom has lived their life on their terms. Being available to them upfront will most likely ease your situation on the back end.

When your loved one transitions outside of their normal comfort zone there are many psychological aspects at play. They experience loss, fear, sometimes confusion, and in extreme cases paranoia. The good news is that if dealt with with a gentle demeanor, these coping mechanisms won’t control the situation.
